As NASA's Asclepius IV nears TRAPPIST-1f, ship's pilot Valentina Nelson prepares to deliver forty-nine sleeping colonists to their new world, only to discover the colony below has gone eerily silent. With no answers, no guidance, and no margin for error, Valentina is forced to navigate the approach alone, relying on the ship’s artificial intelligence as her only counsel, while the crew sleeps through it all—unaware that their lives are in the hands of a self-described grunt who became a pilot to avoid these kinds of no-win decisions. She can alter course, hoping another planetary colony will take them in, or keep going, even if that means flying toward what could already be a graveyard, hoping the reason for its silence won't be their own death sentence.
