Fire - Spirit of Passion

The Fire Archetype

The Fire Archetype is led by the Spirit of Passion. It is a chaotic element, but just as the flame from a candle can cause light, so too is the Fire Archetype related to the Light Archetype in many ways. But where Light prefers order and consistency, Fire is chaotic and passionate. Both have a strong desire for justice and fairness. Both feel great responsibility for those they love.

Many who fall within this archetype have a loner streak. Though you care deeply for those who are considered your “inner circle” your desire to be alone doesn’t change. Despite that, those who fall within this archetype are deeply loyal individuals for those within their inner circle.

It’s almost a religious type in a way. Driven by a passion they aren’t always aware of. Gifted with a kind of resilience that releases within them in times of struggle. They do not see themselves as victims but do see themselves as outsiders. There is a fire that creates and builds, but there is fire that can burn and destroy.

Those who fall within this archetype can be a leader and inspire just as much as the Light archetype, and think of how fire can provide a light. Just because Light can be more consistent than the light that comes from a flame, does not mean you are not capable of being a consistent leader. Where you may lack in consistency, you make up for with warmth.

Those of the flame embrace ideas with their whole hearts.

Remember, the most powerful of all fire are those that refine and create, not burn or destroy. Samwise Gamgee and Frodo Baggins are both examples of the fire archetype, but salvation looks different for different people. For Frodo, his salvation was being made free of his burdens. For Sam, his salvation was in building something new. A home with a family he loved.

Fire takes many forms. Calm embers, maintaining warmth for when they’re needed, the candle’s flame, providing light to those around them, the hearth’s fire, and many others. Determine what you are now and nurture that flame. Don’t fear the change that comes with stoking fires and finding new passions. But be cautious of the wildfire that can come and consume all in its path. Only you can prevent this from occurring.
